Hey there Jep,

I'd say go for it definately before you decide to have children like others have said. I would if I could. Looking for a decent paying job in paradise is even better. You're trial trip sounds like a good idea, I just have one question...

What's up with moving back in with Mommy and Daddy? Are you planning on moving from their house into your newly wed house? Geez...your new wife is in for a treat! I'm not putting you down, I just don't get it. The thing is you are not all that unusual now a days.

Maybe you should look at this as your big leap into the real world! That's a positive thing
:)

Thanks for the interest. Actually. my girlfriend still lives at home with her parents and she is OLD...she is like 27. :)

We both are saving money, her better than I, for the moment..this damn scuba diving.. :)

I understand where your coming from, but I live my life with hardly any intervention from my parents...I go on vacations as much as possible, I go out on the weekends, try and do homework during the weeknights, work during the day..yadda yadda.

Without the luxury of still living at home, I would not be a scuba diver, wouldnt be able to go on any trips, and probably other things. It doesn't really bother me at the moment.

Neither Carrie or I are in any hurry to get married or have kids for that matter, so there really is no rush. I am not going to buy a house until I'm married or about to be.

I'm not sure if I am just venting hot air or what....but since being certified in August...I have been to Bonaire twice and am going to Cozumel in May. I just cant stay away from diving, I enjoy it way too much and its soo relaxing for me.

We all have had certain moments in the water where we just feel awesome..no, not narced, but a feeling of..this is AWESOME! I feel like that on just about every dive!!

"There never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you find them."

I live in Vermont but do I ski. No! I have a nice camp up on the mountain. Haven't been there in a month. Only had the snowmobile out 3 times all winter. No time. Got to work all the time. Vermont is suppose to be laid back.

Conclusion: It ain't the place--it is the person.

Go for it jepuskar. I am working on the same concept. I am on a three year plan to get to Southern Florida. Ideally I will get a good job and get relocatted by the company.
BUT, because that will probably not happen, I am saving up to move myself.
My eye opener was when my financial planner told me I could not retire until I was 65! I am 35 now and said the HECK with that.
I still may not retire until I am 65 but at least I will be located in sunny FL.
Best of luck:mean:

Have you considered a compromise?

It sounds like the islands are calling you but you could consider something closer. I left the snow behind 13 years ago and I get to dive year round and I would never go back north. Florida might have the climate you are looking for as well as IT jobs. You could always drive back home if the tropics don't really do for you :->

Oh yeah, I also agree with everyone else. Take off while you have no ties or you might wind up trapped up there, freezing your butt off, shoveling snow in April.

Good luck.
Joan

Hey do like I did change jobs entirely. Went back to school at 30, did my internship and started my own business (part-time for now) and love my job. Kinda felt strange being in school with everone younger than me though, but worth it.:eek:ut:
