It is a pst tank, I'll take better pics of the markings when I get home. I'll see if I can pull the valve next fill and check the threads on the valve. It's full right now.

When did the yoke manufacturers start protecting the burst disc nut?
Now that I look at that it makes me think that this was a bigger thread that was cut down. Possibly not intentional protection, just made for a larger neck

That looks like one of the early Dive Rite 7/8 valves. Shiny chrome.
I have 3 manifolds from them for my pst 3500 tanks, all 200 convertible.
It's very convenant now that I dive mostly singles and DH regs.
If you are considering swapping it out, I would be interested in it.

i'd be interested in finding its long lost brother. I have 2 of the tanks but the other has a standard valve

That would be a pretty good trick, given that 7/8" x 14 is smaller than 3/4" straight. :)

Yer right Tobin, I wrote it backasswards. :shakehead:

I bet that you will find the valve has been re-cut to 7/8" - 14 UNF from 3/4" NPS.

If one looks closely at the flange on the valve, it is larger than the neck of the cylinder. Another clue that the threads have been cut down
from 3/4" NPS to 7/8" - 14.

I got here late,p.
And I am no tank expert,
but I am wondering if this is possibly one of those wacky European Scubapro style H-valves that will thread into a a japanese Asahi 3500psi tank, but was jammed into what you all think is a PST tank.
It seems spooky to me.
But ignorance is scary.

Chug
hates it it when tanks go boom.

It isnt a recut, they were available from sea elite back in the day. I sold a set last year, they are hard to come by anymore.
