I was nosing around , looking for some hardware and fell into this:

in this wikipedia article (more views there):

1) I'm looking to get for a wing for travel, and have been looking for a <35lb-ish single-layer, doughnut style one that cam be mounted to a standard plate with standard cam-band slots. (Note, my reason for single layer is to find one that is ultra compact and light for packing). Everything that I have found has been part of a full BC (i.e. Scubapro Litehawk), proprietary or STA in mounting (i.e. XDeep or Zeagle which are a horseshoe-style too). If SP made the LiteHawk bladder with a "standard compatible" center-panel, I'd be pretty happy.

2) I'm intrigued by the idea an insanely low-profile "backplate" replacement and that is the nicest set of SM harness plates that I've seen. The ability to run that setup SM or BM seems pretty great.

You could do that with an oxycheck wing. If light and small is what you are after they make a 18lb wing that is pretty tiny, but even their 35 lb wing isn't big. Run cam bands through the slots on the wing and around a side mount harness and you'll have a setup like above. Oxycheck wings are not single bladder though.

Apparently Hidden Worlds Diving has started to carry some of his stuff since you are US based.

1. the wing bladder pictured looks to be a DIY affair. you could look to find a halcyon pioneer 27 wing that would fit your criteria. the old apeks wtx3 technically also meets the criteria, but it is a bit too wide and ends up tacoing.

2. interesting concept, but you end up with a bladder that is neither ideal for sidemount nor backmount single tank.

@sea_ledford & @bamafan WOW! Andrew Goring's SUMP UK stuff is just out of this world. While not the same as the one in the original photo, the Pics he posted on the SUMP FB page from 2018-12-05 could easily be the next evolution and are probably better for what I'd want anyway. Thanks for the lead ...

I'm not looking for it for sidemount use just yet, but rather for use as an ultra-packable single-tank backmount concept rig for now. Whether it is worth it vs. say, a Golem reverse-profile Stream (dogbone-style) plate or not, I don't know. At that point, my soon to be here Freedom Plate, may be an all around better option.

@runsongas I'll keep my eye out for a Pioneer. The cam-band version does look like it would do the trick. But I may be a decade past finding a usable one.

Thanks to all who chimed in.

Now is a good time to buy his stuff if you are in the US. Apparently Brexit has hurt the usd to pound exchange rate in our favor.
