Camping at Avalon

I want to spend a weekend diving Casino Point on a budget. Hotels would cost a lot with their required minimum stays so I prefer camping there. Are there any camping grounds at Avalon? How close is it to Casino Point? Besides my diving gear I plan to bring a small tent, a sleeping bag, and money for food/air. Can I leave my diving gear in a locker at Casino Point overnight while I'm at the campsite? Is it safe?

I've left gear in the lockers overnite & it was there in the morning. Not sure were the camp grounds are but I hear they're not near Avalon. I'm sure somebody will chime in about that.

There actually is a campground (Hermit's Gulch) in the back of Avalon Canyon with regular shuttle service to it. I think you need to go to either the Island Company (Visit Catalina Island - Hotels, Packages, Tours, and more.) or Conservancy (Catalina Island Conservancy) websites to find out about reservations, etc.

Hermit gulch is the closest camp ground to Avalon, 1.5 miles Hermit Gluch Campground - Visit Catalina Island

The camp ground at Two Harbors is bigger and closer to the water. Two Harbors Campgrounds - Visit Catalina Island

You can do some shore dives there, but the best bet is to book a dive on the Garibaldi. Ship Rock, Bird Rock, Isthmus Reef and Eagle Reef are some of my favorite dives ever.
