after what seemed like months and months of high winds and big waves..
finally, some calm seas for diving this past weekend.
enabled a diving tri-fecta!
Friday.. Lanai Lookout (shore dive with nice wall down to 50fsw)..
got a whole body shot of this conger eel in the long cavern at lanai lookout..
there're actually a couple larger congers much much longer at the apex of the cavern
with craniums sooo big.. some folks mistake them for monk seals!
Saturday.. Ewa Pinnacles (tall rock formations at 80fsw)..
this yellow-margin moray on the back side of the pinnacles was perched.. preparing to strike!
and in one of the many antler coral heads.. (what looks like) a juvi seven-11 crab..
second dive at THE Kitchen Sink (another tall wall to 50 fsw off honolulu international)..
this fat white-tip reef-shark suprised me as we came face-to-face in a small canyon..
between the wall and a large boulder.. yes, yelped just bit :shocked2:
at the south end of the wall.. found these two medium sized slipper lobsters..
(only a few more days left of bug season!)
Sunday.. Sea Tiger (165ft long shipwreck at 123fsw)..
dove with the Sea Lancers Dive Club..
saw at least seven sets of whales!
and as we were pulling up on the Sea Tiger mooring..
a large school of spinner dolphins started bow-riding and put on a nice spinning exhibition!
here're two of the four boats we had on the calm water that day..
and here's the master-chief over the sea tiger shipwreck..
decided to penetrate to the engine room..
then, wanted to see if the old-timer diving-helmet was still hidden deep in the belly of the wreck..
(remember.. jo from idh placed this "treasure" within the sea tiger
to motivate wreck-diving students to explore the depth and breadth of the wreck)
second dive at Keehi Pipe (10ft diameter pipe at 30fsw outside keehi lagoon)..
found this large (durr) Leviathan-Cowrie showing his antenae..
and this colorful patterned fish was sleeping deep within a puka during the day..
then, after over four years of diving.. finally been noticing all the feather-duster tube-worms along the reefs..
(at first.. thought they were soft-corals.. but bcyber corrected me)
thanks for playin'!
