It used to be manly to go deep on air. Now it's not.

It used to be manly to dive nitrox on all dives. Now it's not.

It used to be manly to dive trimix. Well, ok, it still is.

It used to be uncool (read, non-DIR) to dive deeper than 100' without trimix. Now even Lamont does it (see post #102).

It's hard to keep up. Guess I'll bag that idea I had to incorporate a nitrox blending stick into a snorkel.

Sigh...

;)

I know people who dive Nitrox for every dive that they aren't on Trimix. How does that make them "posers"?

Ridiculous thread.

I think you should not let it bother you so much.....enjoy your diving time more,,,its their choice what they dive---who gives a 'rat'.

well said !!! what does it matter if they want to dive Nitrox? I f they want to, and can good for them. I am the same way i use it as often as i can, and it's my dollar let me spend it :)

i have used nitrox tanks, and my buddy dives exclusivley with them... however, NEITHER of us have actually used nitrox - we just bought the tanks in anticipation of getting nitrox cert'd. and we fill with safe air to keep them clean.... so we're not showing off OR nitrox cert'd! lol!
although, now that you bring it up- do you really think i can score chicks with these tanks? will they really think i'm cool? finally someone will think i'm cool? (chest swelling with pride) lololololololol

I once calculated the best mix to dive my grandparents 8ft swimming pool. I think it came out to something like 112%.
Hmmmm...now what's wrong with that answer would you say if I asked you? :mooner:

lamont:
...... my tanks don't have nitrox bumper stickers on them...
this actually disturbs me... why no stickers, what if someone picks up the wrong tank (not very likely of course but it happens somewhere, someday) or God forbid, an accident and info about the mix in your tank is relevant???

It will have a mix sticker, but not a "Nitrox" sticker. Those stupid green and yellow things.

I'll admit it ... I use geezer gas on all of my dives. But that's 'cuz ... well ... I'm a geezer.

I don't have Nitrox stickers on any of my tanks. That way, no one will know what I'm breathing (except me and my dive buddy), and therefore they can't complain about it.

I do have ID on all of my tanks ... so if someone "accidentally" grabs my tank by mistake, their name had better be Grateful Diver ... :D

112 feet, 57 degree water, EAN= longer NDL and bigger safety margin. Otherwise, maybe the folks you see are getting numbers in for advanced nitrox, tech, and trimix courses???

But, why do you care?
