I wanted to add a quick update. This event is posted on other sites and right now there are over a dozen people planning on attending. We're hoping to schedule more local events so if you can't make this one, stay posted. Everyone is welcome.

It's me again with a HH reminder. If you'd like to stop by for a beer and dive talk, please do so. You'll recognize us by the dive flag and my singlediver's t-shirt. If you could reply in this thread or email to angels@singledivers.com we can prepare O'Gara's.

Here's a bit more on Op C&S (below) if you'd like to bring anything for the guys/gals that are deployed. I'll personally pack and ship the items. This is a great way to get rid of old magazines.

Operation Care and Share is a SingleDivers.com program dedicated to supporting currently deployed members of the military. The intent of the program is to show support, respect, and appreciation for the men and women who protect and defend us, our rights, and our freedom. It is NOT an endorsement of any political agenda.

The initial focus has been on sending care packages to SD members who are currently deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. However we are not exclusively focused on our divers in uniform. We are looking for opportunities to support any deployed military personnel who would benefit from the ‘positive buoyancy’ a care package provides.

GOT THE FIRST SET OF PACKAGES TODAY!!

Thanks everyone! I dispersed them throughout the company. One per platoon. (got a total of 3 boxes) Saw a lot of guys in the common area reading and leafing through some of the Scuba mags. I have about a half dozen sitting on the little center table next to the TV and people pick them up and leaf through them. hopefully it'll spark some interest. The jerkey disappeared in about 30 seconds and was half eaten with big smiles and the rest got stuffed into assault packs for the next mission where it will likely disappear just as quickly and happily. There was a nice large amount of baby wipes haha. We'll put them to good use! The Qtips will be awesome for cleaning weapons. Its been a bit on the rainy side lately but they're good for putting on nice light coats of oil so that the weapons don't rust up on us. I'll try and get some pictures of the guys with the stuff (whats left of it haha)

I took the SD.com sticker off one of the boxes and fashioned it into a bumper sticker using 100 mph tape. I'll get a picture of it for you when I slap it on my truck. A little international advertising care of the US Army. Winning hearts and minds and scuba buddies!!

Thanks again everyone! All the guys send their thanks with extra minty fresh breath from all the lifesavers mints! I think the only complaints were "where's all the porn and dip, dude?!?!" They were kidding of course.... sort of haha.

Hi,
Unfortunatelly I can not make it but would like to try to catch the next meeting.

I just moved to MN (Duluth area) and I am looking for dive buddies. Would really like to explore some of the wrecks in Lake Superior.

Have fun

Hey ScubaSwede! It'd be great to have you join us.

I post the outings here, MNScuba.com and SingleDivers.com.

Hockey practice on Sat. night? You must be dedicated. :D

Hopefully you can join us another time.

Another thank-you from a care package recipient. I find these touching to read independent of the get together.

Wanted to send a big THANK YOU to Victoria and the Dallas area gang!

You guys rock! I just got your package today and the kids here are going to love it.

I’ll get some pictures of us handing the stuff out to the kids. These simple items mean the world to kids that have nothing.

I want to remind each of you that you really are influencing a better world. The local Iraqis are in a constant state of amazement at how generous we are to them. They can’t believe that so many people give so freely to people they don’t even know, none the less people with different religious beliefs.

I am seeing how their perceptions of Americans are changing with each coloring book and pack of crayons we hand out.

Bless all of you.

If anyone else wants to send supplies for the kids, my address is…

Also, feel free to send any silly, crazy, or embarrassing item to me. I’ll always find fun ways to take pictures of me with them.

Also, you can read about my adventures here on my blog…

Game on! Bless you all.
