- Need a dive plan for Sunday ... there's a possibility for a second day of boat diving, but I haven't made that decision yet. Figured I'd check in with y'all and get some ideas first.
You would probably really enjoy a day of diving from the shore at the Casino Point Dive park. (The fish are very used to people, and the snorklers feed them to build interest... good for photos)
Saturday night you move your dive gear off the boat and cab it over to the Point and stow the heavy stuff in lockers. (Self-service. 75 cents per locker. Must have quarters) Head to the hotel for showers and dinner and a relaxed night. Sunday AM you pack up and take your stuff with you to the Point. (Walk or cab depending on how stuff-intensive you are ;) ) All your dive gear except your exposure suits and camera(s) are already in the lockers at the point.

Set up, get tanks (if you brought 'em) filled at 0800 at the fill station at the point. Dive and then eat at the Dockside cafe (or walk to town for b'fast/lunch.)
Dive again and eat again. Last fills at 4PM. Dive again... and then pack up. You can cab your stuff to the Express dock, or send it with the sherpas of Catalina Baggage service. (They truck it over and you get it from their lock-up before boarding your boat home.) Then you're travellin' light into Avalon for time with drinks or food before your boat home.

It's a thought. Diving the park is really fun. So is another day of boat diving with ScubaLuv. You can't go wrong. Check the stickies in our forum for more info, or PM me for more (more??!?!!:11: ) details on having fun at the Dive Park. IF you post that you'll be there diving for a day, I bet you'll have company!!

Diving the favorite spot with Robb on Monday??? Oh, you lucky dogs!!!!

That sounds like about what I had in mind ... we'll plan for Sunday to be a day at Casino Point.

Now all I need is a dive plan for Friday ... and for Monday morning ... :D

I've got you for Monday. Crescent Bay and a tour of Deadmans reef and breakfast at the Cottage. Anytime after 8:00 am works for me (kids and school.)

This is shaping up so cool ... itinerary looks like this ...

- Thursday nite - arrive at LAX, grab a motel (TBD)
- Friday - diving with Claudette and Ken (dive site of their choice)
- Friday nite - ferry to Catalina, staying at the Atwater
- Saturday - boat dives on King Neptune
- Saturday nite - second nite at the Atwater
- Sunday - diving at Casino Pt.
- Sunday nite - back to the mainland, grab a motel (TBD)
- Monday - dive at Crescent Bay & Deadman's Reef with Robert
- Tuesday - head back to Seattle

I'm really excited to finally be getting down there, and to be able to hook up with some of y'all ... :D

Hi Frank,
There are some of us that dive a 7mm all year out here so in May it should be fine. The package you pointed out seems like a good deal, the dive around Cat. Is. is just as good as the other Channel Is. plus you get to hang out on Catalina which is a pretty nice place. About a dive buddy, talk to the captain he might be able to set you up with a buddy for the dive.

John
