Except for a few science divers, Moss Landing is not really a dive site. The Salinas river empties into the slew/harbor area, making visibility really bad. The bottom is largely mud and sand. I have dove there with a friend at the Moss Landing Marine Lab.
Also, the resolution of the map does not show the Monterey Peninsula, which is loaded with dive sites. Pt Lobos to the Monterey breakwater has 20-50 notable dive sites and is the most popular in Northern California.
There are also a LOT of dive sites on the Channel Islands and San Clemente worth mentioning. Cortez Banks to the west of San Clemente is a fav for the opening day of lobster season.
