Vinh invited me to dive the Waianae Coast with some friends from out of town.
first dive..
we tied up to the Mahi shipwreck couple miles south of the harbor.
a good bet there would be multiple Eagle Rays in formation circling the ship.
special treat this day.. a big 7 foot wide mama Ray tending to her 8 kids..
back on the shipwreck.. the whole gang of divers..
Vinh, Linda, Mike, and Jordan..
and Mike and Linda over the stern..
then, the ever present "old-man" Moray eel which resides on the aft deck..
nice day on the water.. so we cruised down to E-beach..
to give our non-divers (aka.. snorkelers) something closer to look at.
greeting us near the pipes.. a large school of Spinner dolphins..
showed off their acrobatics in front of the bow!
second dive..
checked out the reef south of the pipes in front of Kahe Point..
spied this young White-mouth moray..
then doubled back over to the north reef looking for Takos.. no joy.. just Goatfish.
finally, we played around the 90°F water flowing out of the 10 foot diameter twin pipes.
Jordan in front of the pipes..
another cool sighting..
cabbage sized yellow Frogfish perched under the railing of the fallen tower front of the pipes..
back directly under the pipes.. an infestation of Humpback cowries!
literally dozens crawling at the base, on the outside, and of course, inside pipes..
most i've ever seen!
amongst all the other cowries, and the highlight for me.. my first Calf Cowrie!
big mahalos to Mike, Linda, Jordan, Jen, John, and Sue who joined us
on Vinh's ski-boat and the Sunny Dee for some beautiful dives!
