Do you guys dive all through the winter over there? My brother lives in L.A. and I think I might head on over there sometime before spring, since work slows down for me over on this side. I've heard neat stuff about some of the sea mounts and Catalina, but I've never been diving anywhere over in Cali.

P.S. I would love to dive with sea lions. I think.

Your pal,
Kev

Well, let us know when you're coming... and we'll hightail it to the Florida Keys!

If you get here the right time of the month, you can always join one of our Wrinkles dives and meet a bunch of us all at once (or maybe that would be a bit too much for ya!).

There is no "dive season" here in So Cal --- but you will find it a bit chilly from what you are used to. Come on over -- make it during the Wrinkles dive --- we will dive with ya!

http://www.sandeaters.org will get you wet every week. They also have a good description of dive sites there.

A call to me at (562) 421-3094 might also get you wet. I can only dive on days ending in a "y".

Sea lions, Crescent Bay commonly refered to as Seal Rock in Laguna Beach is a sure bet. Baot trip to Anacapa will also most likely get you a sea lion experience. Heck on just about any dive you have a chance of diving with sea lions. But seal rock is normally a consistant performer.

It's okay, I have a drysuit. Sometimes the water over here gets as cold as 71 degrees!:11:

Cool, thanks everyone! What's the most advance notice I can expect to have on a Wrinkles dive? Are they always on the second Saturday of the month or something?
Yes. They are on the 2nd Saturday of every month and rotate up and down the SoCal coast.

And not just the water! Let us know dates as your plans become clearer!

Okay, my plans have become clearer. World famous salsa dancer and squid researcher, Naoko and I will be in L.A. from Wednesday, 8 March through Sunday the 12th. I'm really hoping to dive every day, but I don't know if there's enough demand for boats to run weekday trips. I guess we could hit Catalina for day trips. I really don't know, I'm clueless. I also really want to be a part of the Wrinkles dive, if there is one that weekend. Lastly, and mostly I want to dive with sea lions, but not with things that eat them, or if I must dive with things that eat them I'd like to also be diving with sea lions that don't swim as well as I do. Any guidance would be deeply appreciated.
