chromi... thanks... that's all I needed... just wanted to make sure people didn't have some horror stories about the resort or the dive center...
well there is that one about the white lady that comes out at night...

Oh... you meant "i had a lousy time" horror stories? oops

thanks Jag... real classy...

Anyways off to Cabilao next week. I'll see if we can break some guiness world records by stuffing as many people as possible into that hobbit house...

Pakman, how long will you be there? I am leaving Seattle on the 11th and will be checking into LaEstrella on the 15th. This is my first trip to PI and my first warm water diving experience. You can email Tobias and Birga concerning the dive operation. Here is what Birga had to say when I enquired about diving there:

"We are looking forward to diving with you in April. The diving here on Cabilao is generally wall diving, and our walls are beautiful, as there has not been any extensive dynamite fishing in the area. We have a lot of different soft and hard coral, and many of them are in pristine condition.
As for things to see: diving here is mostly about the small stuff, critters of every hue and color, like pigmy seahorses and frog fish and ghost pipe fish. You will even find some of the really rare creatures. With a little bit of luck it is also possible to see big Napoleon wrasse, turtles and sometimes sharks passing by. Actually, if you ask me, the diving is pretty amazing. We have some of the best muck diving sites, aswell.

We normally do 3 dives a day, at 9 a.m., 12 a.m. and 3 p.m. Upon request we can also schedule early- morning or night dives. As we are not a very busy dive center, groups are usually small, and we normally send a dive guide with every 4 to 6 divers."

Dynamite fishing!?!?!? Holy moly. Well I'm kinda bummed out! I wanted to stay in that freaky little hobbit house but it wasnt available when I booked. I got the Superior A frame Bungalow. Based on all my correspondance with Estrella and Hans Zagorski they seem very nice and hospitable and I'm looking forward to staying there.

Hope to see you there, it be cool to hook up with a fellow Seattleite. If not, hope you enjoy your trip. If/When you come back to Seattle look me up.

Hey Pez... that would have been nice to have met a fellow PNW'er out in the Philippines. Unfortunately, I'm just going to be there for a few days and heading back to Cebu on the 8th (got an early morning flight the following day).

I wouldn't worry about the dynamite fishing.

and my appetite for all things pickled in red pepper and dog meat stew...

Also going to Cabilao. Judging from posts, we arrive just as Pak leaves and depart when Pez arrives.
Pez, you diving anywhere else in the area?
From one Pacific Northwesterner to another: it will be a pleasure to dive in warmer waters and we're looking forward to it. No drysuit! No 30 pounds of weight!

pez and cinque- do enjoy your stay here! =)
