Hello,

Does anyone know about how much it is to take a cab from the Riu Palace Las Americas to Puerto Morelos (near the El Cid)? We do not usually stay in Cancun, but we dove with a dive shop in Puerto Morelos before and we are thinking of diving with them again. Also do you know about how long it will take to get there from the Las Americas?

We have it narrowed down between this dive shop and another dive shop that said they will pick us up and has included it in the dive trip. This 2nd shop we have never dove with before but I have heard very good things about them as well.

We are also trying to figure out how long of a day this is going to make our dive days as well. This will help us figure out how many days we want to dive.

Thank you!!

Maybe there is a better way to get there besides a taxi from Cancun to Puerto Morelos? :idk:
Well, I think very few know the answer so give it a few more days. Have you asked the Op...?

Ok, you are talking about commuting to dive, then returning to Cancun the same day? Mapquest shows it to be only 42 miles from Cancun hotel zone on the island to Playa del Carmen with Puerto Morelos about halfway, and Loc Gringo says it's only 20 minutes from one to the other, so it shouldn't add much to your day. Here is a zoomable map: http://www.locogringo.com/lgunet/images/maps/roads/masterQR.png

Easyway car rental will pick you up at your hotel, take you back to their office to complete the rental contract, and give you a pretty good deal including all insurance. If you're going to do this trip more than once, you may find that a good approach.
