Hello divers. I am a beginner diver with 10 logged dives. They have all been cold, fresh water dives in a 7mm suit. I will be staying at Sandals resort in Jamaica next week and bringing most my own equipment. I have been debating whether to bring my own integrated BC or use whatever is supplied by the resort to lighten my luggage. Since I will be diving in salt water in 1 mm suit for the 1st time, I am going to have to adjust my weights anyway. :icon_ques

Welcome to the board!
Use your own stuff...comfort and familiarity are the key.

welcome aboard

yeah... i'd use my own stuff took, like joe said... you're familiar with it, you know
it works, and you can keep surprises to a minimum, which makes for much
better diving

welcome to the board! i would defintetely bring my own gear if i had the luggage space. if not then i would leave my bc and fins behind.

I concur with all of the above!
It'd be a real booger to be on such a beautiful vacation/dive and have to be concentrating on such things as fit and buoyancy issues.

Welcome to the board. I agree with the above. I would bring my own gear. My wife and I did our honeymoon on a nice cruise. We dove in Jamaica and Cozumel. Both Times I had to use their equipment. I wasn't bad enouth that I did not know the equipment, I ended up using an OLD!!!! Sherwood reg that I don't belief had been serviced since it was manufactured. It not only was difficult to breath, but it leaked a lot of water into my mouth. It did not make for an outstanding dive. I still enjoyed my dive, but it would have been better if I would have had my own gear.

That will not happen again. If I have to leave my clothes at home to take my dive gear, willlllll, I quess I will be wearing the same clothes through out my trip.... DIVE GEAR comes first no matter what....

I'm done now......:soapbox:

Yep, you can count on the resort having the cheapest BCs possible. BCs are named in more equipment accidents than any other gear except for regs. I'd take it even if I took less clothes - which is a good idea anyway.

Thanks to all for the advice. The BC is in the bag and the clothes are in the closet. :winky:
