Butterfly Swivel Bolt Snaps ---

I can't tell what these are like without touching; I've only seen pictures of them on websites. Has anyone seen one of these up close and personal? Any opinions?

I got about a dozen of them, the best part is that you can snap them in Billy ring one handed, really cool stuff

I use them inside and outside the water

I'm upgrading to SS in my next dozen snaps!!!

I looked at these last year and found the idea pretty attractive, especially after sturggling with regular bolt snaps for a week.

However, despite the intuitive appeal of their design (realy easy clip and unclip), they are considered hazardous (a form of suicide clip) since they will quite easily clip onto unwanted lines or debris in your environment should you brush up against such items while wearing said clip(s).

Just get regular stainless bolt snaps. The butterfly ones let line in without your knowledge and can cause an entanglement. There's really no point, anyhow....regular bolt snaps work fine and can be opened and closed with drygloves with just a little practice. If you have a hard time, stick one on your key chain and play with it during the day.

Thanks everyone. Sorry Mandy - you're outvoted 2-1. Normal bolt snaps are fine - I just thought from the pictures it might be easier to use. From the pictures I couldn't tell that it can let in line unintentionally.

No problem steve whatever fits you is ok with me.

I still like them, thou I've to admit I never thought about the entanglement issue.

In +/- 8 yrs using them, never had that problem, but I don't dive close to piers or similar places where lines can be a problem.

So far the only place they have cliped is to the intended Dring.

I also use them in many of my key chains, I just love them!!!!!
