I don't like to use them on stages because they are too bulky compared to a regular bolt snap when you have more than two of them on the same D-Ring. I don't use the huge XL snaps for the same reason. I prefer to use a regular bolt snap with the 1" loop on the bottom of them for stages because I can slip my index finger into the loop and operate the gate with my thumb easier and the heads of the bolt snaps dont take up too much real estate.

Edit: These

I don't want anything on my gear that can connect or disconnect without an intentional action on my part. Standard bolt snaps require two motions in perpendicular directions, so accidents are less likely to happen. There's always a chance that something can work its way into the gate and open it, but it happens much less than with other kinds of snaps.

I am playing around with some double-enders for my Nomad (put rings on the neck of the tanks and use the double-enders to attach). But I am ALSO using the bungies so kind of playing around with both. Since I use reels and NOT spools , I only have the standard bolt snaps for reels and a small one for my long hose. Also for my cookie/arrow thingie :D

I tried butterfly snaps early on , but I had issues with them so I went with the bolt snaps. The only place I use a double-ender is with my playing around with my sidemount tanks.
