Oh yeah... the 5,000,000,000 + of the rest of the world too!

oh how you believe what the media tells you..............

if you hear the earth is square umpteen times, you may start to believe that too.

from best friends and even MY WIFE who has been to the middle east fighting the good fight, I get the REAL News of how we are wanted and loved. Of the "things" they never had that we are disposing of at this moment. AND, how the "bad guys"
will thrive on our(recent elections) show of weakness.
Sorry, I get FACTS and not media blips from Wolf Blitzer...........

back to Andy's original post..........

Wind, Solar and Nuclear Power needs a GIGANTIC push forward right now.....

After The Senate pasted bill 6111 by a required 2/3 majority vote with very little opposition and no amendments, President Bush signed it into law.

oh yeah you try getting that into the title

Bush signs into law Senate Bill 6111 (passed by a required 2/3 majority vote, with very little opposition and no amendments) opening up virgin Florida waters to Big Oil pimp daddies to exploit....

ooh oohooooohhh

no wait ... that's not it either

I would love nothing more than to strangle the APEC nations by not buying any oil form them or as little as possable.

OPEC, man, OPEC!

Looks to me like a bunch of you are crazy. How can anybody state Nuclear Energy as clean. I lived 30 miles from Hanford Nuclear Reservation and i can tell you that place is not clean.

Could you please explain "not clean"

Doe's your Geiger counter wake you at night?
Seen a three eyed billy goat?
Are people parking on your lawn?
Or simpler, you'd like to see the place painted a very groovy art deco color?

Really to throw a statement like that with out support is laughable.

It's a different kind of dirty. Maybe more manageable. Besides, Hanford was mainly used for production of nuclear weapons, as I recall.

Just a quick counter-point: The green, liberal, socialist French get 2/3 of their electricity from nuclear power.

The U.S.'s nuclear power technology is stuck firmly in the 70s. Lots of people the world over have this crazy notion that in 2006 we can do somewhat better.

just to throw this out there (haven't thought it through)

if we build nuclear power plants, aren't we inviting terrorists to take them out, causing a LOT more damage than they could today?

They are not so easy to take out. (I think a U.S. plant could survive a 9/11 style attack without releasing radiation). And they could be made even harder to take out. Taking out an oil refinery or an LNG terminal could be very devastating as well (in the short term).

well maybe they could just go to Fort Knox and take all the gold while they are at it too. :gun:

Hanford is not just a Nuclear Power plant it is also, a nuclear waste and storage facility and it is considered one of the worst enviromental diasters ever. Vondo is correct that Hanford was a major weapons facility. However, the storage facility which consists of all the spent rods from nuclear reactors is still causing tremendous amounts pollution to the ground water and the Columbia River.
