Buoyancy woes. Need help.

Barely touch the button for inflation. If you can hear the air going in your BC you have held it to long. Don't let this frustrate you, it takes time. Another thing you may doing is adding air to the BC while you have exhaled what was in your lungs, on your next breath the volume in your lungs and BC bring you up.
If you orally inflate your BCD you don't change buoyancy at all, no matter how much air you put into the BCD. At least until you take your next breath.
 
Charlie, very cool post! The only thing that made me wince a little was the advice to be without fins. Although it would remove the variable, I've seen so many new divers who turtle very easily that I think a lot of them need the fins to avoid falling over.
 
Charlie I plan on doing just that! I appreciate everyones help! My main concen is doing exactly what you said with a full tank and then making sure I have enough weight to maintain a safety stop. I'm sure itll make more sense when I get in the pool.
