Diver List!

I had a strange occurrence happen the other day whilst diving. I thought I would throw it out to the board to see if anyone could figure it out.

I dive a perfectly weighted kit. My BC has enough buoyancy to lift me at the surface and I am pretty good about maintaining buoyancy and trim underwater. I took the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy and passed the Diamond Reef course (I have the card from that one too) and I use about 10% of my weight for my weight belt. I checked my buoyancy the other day by taking a full breath and exhaling to slowly sink at the start of my dive. I sink. No problem!

Here is where I have difficulty. I went diving off Catalina’s underwater park the other day. I was having a wonderful dive and then slowly working my way up to 15 feet to do a safety stop. I had about 500 psi in my AL 80 and all of a sudden my buoyancy went crazy! I shot up to the surface and could get back down! It was like I was a giant cork!

My weighting is fine. I don’t get it. Did the bubbles in my wetsuit suddenly expand? Has this happened to anyone else before? I don't understand why this is happening!?!?!
