Good choice dividing the weight between belt and Bp. Since you're in a drysuit though, I think you should plan for a flood and loss of buoyancy, in which case the wing may not float you. So yes, bigger wing seems like the choice.

For the purposes of a recreational realm if you know your undergarments can withstand getting fully saturated and lose all it's buoyancy characteristics, you could treat it as you would a wetsuit. You know you will always have that extra buoyancy in the undergarment itself so depending on how much that is, you could decide if the wing is enough; and then just mention to the instructor that he should invest in a float. ;)

Fundies might say differently though.

Point of clarification here- the 16# of ditch-able weight is on a belt of course, not on the plate. The Wing and non-ditchable weight floats on the surface just fine, and the belt and I, in my dry suit, float on the surface just fine. Lots of extra lift in that scenario. If I ditch my weight belt onto the floating Wing, it still floats, but just barely.
...

The question I'm working through is that if I where add a heavy light, for example. The Wing would support everything attached to the wing, and the light. But If I threw the weight belt onto the wing, it would sink. In that case, is the wing too small? I don't think so, because the only case where you don't have enough lift at the surface is in a training event. In all other cases, the diver would just ditch the ditch-able weight- right?

If my number is right, double HP100 carry 16lb of air, your total balast is 24lb because your Evolve 40 barely flow your rig with weight belt attached. So your drysuit is 24lb positive. Even with 16lb weight belt, you are 8lb positive. In what situtation would you take off your belt and put it on the rig while you are out of it?
