In fact it does not :) No matter how you breath (diaphragm or chest) the volume of the body and thus your buoyancy will change the same way.

Elan, perhaps by "yoga breathing" you can have finer control over your breathing and thus "dial in" your buoyancy more easily?

I don't know for scuba (I haven't even done my OW dives yet) but I've noticed I have far more control over my breathing if I breath from my diaphram. For me I definitely know I was more relaxed breathing this way in the pool.
 
Go out and do some diving where there's something else to hold most of your attention: [...] You'll be surprised how much better your buoyancy control is once you stop over-thinking it. Once that sinks in (no pun intended), the "Aha! moment" won't be far away; then it's just a matter of polish and trim.

DevilKitty speaks a big truth here; one of the biggest "bumps" my diving skills have gotten recently was going on some dives where activities underwater took me away from my obesssion with self and all the minutia of what was going on and out into the world around me more.

Amazing to realize the more I obsessed about things, the worse they got, not better.

So if you've got your basic skills down and your buoyancy is good, time to get a camera. Or create tasks/games for yourself. Take a REEF class and then start counting fish!

Well I started practicing in a friends pool, and on Sunday I went out with my son and took the first 40 min of the dive to practice. What helped me was breathing a bit more shallow. I came to find out that I has breathing in to deeply and exhaling far to much, this was making me ascend to fast and on the exhale sink. After 15 min I was only having a change of maybe 2 feet at most. Thanks to all for the help.:ppd::ppd:

I donno, I found that timing plays the major role in maintaining the level.
