Bulk Bolt Snaps

I can find 3/4" eye bolt snaps for around $4 at Lowes, but they don't sell the larger snaps (for stages, etc). Does anyone have a good source for the larger 1 1/8" snaps?

I've been waiting on Nix to get them back in stock, but I emailed him, and he said they would be out of stock for 6-12 months. Does anyone else have a good source for these for less than $8 a pop:

Alternately, does anyone have any experience using any of the other sizes he sells as stage clips?

Out of stock for 6-12 months? Holy crap...:shocked2: Nix stuff is fantastic.

I would suggest getting in touch with a Halcyon dealer, they usually have good (albeit expensive) bolt snaps.

They are a Canadian distributor, local to me. Their prices are a bit high, but maybe we can negotiate a price reduction with a bulk buy. Supposed to be all 316 Stainless and high quality.

Hi Tom. I don't know what you mean when you say "bulk" quantities of XL snaps, but you can give me a call at (800) 601-3483 and we can talk about prices for "bulk" purchases. However, unless you are willing to purchase MANY pounds of them, I don't know how successful you will do with the "less than $8" issue. Even though metal prices in general are declining, for some reason, stainless (with stainless springs) bolt snaps are becoming more and more expensive. Supply from Asia is getting short for some reason, likely the reason that Nix will be out of stock for months.

No kidding, hence why I haven't bothered ordering. I'm sure we could get them to give a better rate on a bulk buy, but I dont know how big of a bulk buy would be needed.

You might try caveadventurers.com - Home Edd has great customer service, and depending on what you mean by bulk, he will probably cut you a deal.

I don't have a decent local dive store so I rarely recommend using them. However, for bolt snaps sometimes you are better off going to a H dealer and picking out the few snaps you need since you can test them and make sure you get a good one. Nix has worked for me when I am ordering a few dozen at a time and the several that I have to toss because they are bad don't really affect the overall price. For bulk, online deals are worth it. For a few snaps, find a place where you can test before you buy.
