They make small flat bolts for this perpose but I don't know where to get them. My buddy has this same setup and had them on his.

He said that a single tank w/o the STA the tank wabbled from side to side and he did not like that so he went to the STA. (Food for thought)

Buckle bands are coming. I'm not a big fan of the cam band.
The buckles rock tho. I'll have a pair of them. It should be super solid.
Close to the old scubapro stuff. They should arrive in another hour or so.

For the bold head covers, I'll probably use this heavy duty cutting board stuff I used to make my CNC machine. It's easy to work with, and tough.

Nope, I'm not really planning to use an STA.
Yes, I'll mostly use single tanks. No, I don't want an STA. The DR plate has slots for the tank straps. I figure I can make a spacer to fit on the straps that will cover the bolt heads and keep the tank centered.

I have a backplate with the strap slots in it. I needed to switch to a single while on vacation, so I used a segment of PVC pipe. I just heated it to 400F, bent it to shape, and drilled holes for the bolts. It worked so well, I haven't done anything different with it.

It's funny how you read about stuff, but when you have it in your hands it's so much quicker to learn and really picture.

So technically, I'll be using a STA of some sort. Just don't know what kind yet.

Lowe's or Home Depot for the stainless hardware. They should have what you need unless it's really specialized hardware.

Ok, So I've got a Dive Rite stainless backplate, standard harness, and some rec wings sitting in front of me.

Man this is gonna sound a bit silly.
How am I supposed to attach the wing to the backplate?
I'm stuck with mailorder around here...

I noticed some flat stainless bolts at some places online. I'm guessing I need to buy more hardware. Building the harness is pretty straight forward.

Should the harness only pass through the backplate, and attach the wing on top of that?
Or should I run the harness through the slots on the wings?

Somebody got a good reference site for me?

I take it you have access to a machine shop?
If so, just grab a couple of pieces of 3/16" thick aluminum, cut them into two rectangles about 2"x4", drill a 5/16" hole in the center of each and then bend an ear up on the ends of each one. Wah-la (I can't spell it in French), now you have a 2 piece STA.
