I found that a regulator in very strong current can leak water through the exhaust diaphragm especially if you're drifting, kicking sideways to the current and turning your head to see where you're going.
That was on a brand new reg on my recent Komodo trip. It was definitely not faulty as I did not experience this in lesser current.
When we hit batu tiga on a 6 knot current it really pushes the limits of your reg, though it's strong enough to push the purge button anyway
