Buddy Dive Resort, Technical Diving International (TDI) and Dive Rite, are excited to announce that they will once again team up to host their annual technical diving event at Buddy Dive Resort, October 11-24, 2014.This popular event offers dive guests two full weeks of tech-focused activities and the opportunity to meet and dive with the pros.
Recreational and technical divers of all certification levels can take advantage of two full weeks of tech diving opportunities and experiences. Mission Tech Possible participants will have the opportunity to check out the latest technical equipment and technology, attend informative presentations, and try out different tech gear setups including doubles, side-mount, closed-circuit rebreathers and TRIMIX. There will even be special tech-only boat dives scheduled throughout the event. Mission Tech Possible 2014 is organized to allow participants to complete all activities, whether they join for one week or two.
Recreational Diver Opportunities
Mission Tech Possible 2014 offers recreational divers a variety of tech “missions” this year, including:
·         Mission Briefing– The start of the Mission Tech Possible experience, every diver will have the opportunity to work with the TDI pros to optimize buoyancy, trim, propulsion techniques, lift bag deployment, and more.
·         Mission Rebreather– After a pre-dive briefing that includes rebreather functionality, safety procedures and buoyancy control, divers can test dive the Dive Rite O2ptima Closed Circuit Rebreather.
·         Mission Sidemount– One of the fastest-growing equipment configurations for recreational and technical diver’s alike; sidemount offers a comfortable and unique dive experience. Divers will be able to test the Dive Rite Nomad system and practice sidemount-specific skills.
·         Mission Trimix– Following a pre-dive briefing covering mixed gas dive planning, gas analysis and the physiological effects of helium as a breathing gas, divers will enjoy a 30 meter/100 foot dive with Trimix – a blend of nitrogen, oxygen and helium. Divers will experience the Trimix difference, including easier breathing and reduced narcosis.
All recreational divers who complete the Mission Briefing and at least two additional missions will earn their TDI Intro to Tech Certification and receive an eLearning code for TDI Intro to Tech.

Mission Tech Possible 2014 also offers unique benefits for divers already tech certified.

Some of the technical diving professionals who will be hosting events and leading dives include Brian Carney and Lamar Hires. Buddy Dive’s own tech dive specialist, German Arango Gonzales will also be on hand throughout the event, offering his perspective and expertise on technical diving in the Caribbean.
“Buddy Dive Tek Week is a unique opportunity to see and try the latest technical equipment and instruction,” says German. “New equipment, new technologies and updated teaching strategies are changing the way people dive around the world. In no other place do you have the opportunity to try out the latest tech gear while also be guided by some of the most devoted technical divers on the planet. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
According to Brian Carney, President of Technical Diving International, Mission Tech Possible is the premier event for divers interested in any aspect of technical diving. “Mission Tech Possible is one of my personal highlights of the year. The team of people who run the program and the calm, tranquil conditions make it exceptionally easy and safe for divers of all skill level to try out tech diving.”
DiveRite’s President and CEO, Lamar Hires believes tech diving is something everyone should try. “I look forward to this event every October. The look on divers faces when they get to try something beyond a single tank dive is priceless. Whether it is side mount or a closed-circuit rebreather, the enthusiasm of recreational divers trying something new and then wanting more is contagious.”
Mission Tech Possible begins October 11, 2014 and runs through October 24, 2014. The program is organized so that divers can try everything within a one-week stay. However, for those guests planning to join for the full two weeks, there will be a variety of new opportunities available each week.
Buddy Dive Resorts is the leading tech facility in all of the Dutch Caribbean and offers a variety of technical diving courses and special Tek Drive & Dive Packages year-round. Located on the sunny island of Bonaire, the shore diving capital of the world, Buddy Dive’s oceanfront location means it is only a few steps into the clear, calm and warm Caribbean waters, making it an ideal location to learn tech diving.
