If on a mooring line, I would think that the boat could drop a granny line? I am not visualizing how the boat is moored to the line and a drop brings you to it - I am visualizing being whisked away.

It was a separate mooring attached to the wreck, not the boat. There was too much current for the boat to attach to the mooring (not even sure if it was designed for that, but more as a marker for the wreck). It was a hot drop from the boat. Sorry if not clear.
