Seems like some liquid is being forced out and bubbling where the valve meets the tank. Some sort of oil or lube?

The valve pictured is a new Harrison valve that came with a different tank and I put it and the oring that came with it onto this tank. Any lube would have already been on the oring. I didn't notice it being extra greasy or anything though.

I don't use any lube on tank orings. This didn't happen with the last valve/ oring I had in the tank before.

looks like there was lube or something on that tank. I would pull it off and properly clean both the tank neck threads and the valve, replace the o-ring, and try again. that's very not normal looking

Like I said. I added no lube on the tank and it was clean.

If anything it was on the oring already.

that looks quite wrong,I would drain and remove valve, clean tank and valve and try again. That said,is that a 6 cubic ft cylinder? Looks a little pitted, check the sealing surface where the Oring sits carefully.

Only thing other than something on/coming out of Oring(never saw that before) I can think of is it may be compressor oil from bad air.. you'll know when you open it up

Definitely drain, open, and thoroughly inspect. In the picture it doesnt look like the types of lube one would find on an oring. I dont put lube in my tank or on my valve threads/ neck oring. The pitting on the outside would concern me too.

It's an AL19.

I never noticed the pitting around the outside until now. Not super worried about it. Inside was decently clean prior to this.

Anyways, I'll pop it open and take a look tonight. It's draining now.

Nice closeup, next time I prefer you just describe it while draining the bottle. Most of the time an o-ring leaking is nothing but a bad o-ring, but there is no way to know until you check. As divers it is easy to get complacent about HP air.

As for the oil, it probably rode in on the new valve, if the oil was between the valve and o-ring you wouldn't see it. And, of course, why didn't you put on a new o-ring while swapping valves?

I did. I used the new oring that came with the new valve.

Sorry, it read to me like you removed the valve from another tank.
