Anyone familiar with the towns/cities near Brownstone Quarry in Portland, CT?

A few buddies are road tripping to check out DUI Demo day at Brownstone.

Suggestions for post-quarry activities (dining, window shopping, walking around to enjoy the fall foliage) in a quaint nearby town within an hour drive from the quarry would work.

I am not familiar with the area at all so any suggestions are welcomed.

I'd usually just head back to Boston after diving there, but a few times we took trips to Hartford or New Haven to see friends. Neither is especially compelling, but you can certainly find things to do in each (they're among the three largest CT "cities").

Thanks, Chris, for the suggestions.

We may head toward upstate NY/CT border for fall foliage. :)

Sam is this a (DNY) group heading up there for some diving. If so what are the dates that your planning on goin

DUI Demo will be there this coming Saturday and Sunday.

We're only going to be there on Saturday. Two out of the group are going to demo some DUI suits, one nose breather is a non-diver and I'm going to talk to a DUI rep.

So the only diving will be the two demo'ing suits. :)

I'm going too... not sure if I'm going Saturday or Sunday yet. Probably the least busy of the two.

Theres alot you can do in the area. F-40 motorsports is a cool place to check out with Ferraris. In the next town over (Middletown), you can go to Habor Park Restaurant or First & Last for food. If you want to have the perfect New England afternoon, shoot down Rt 9 South to Essex and grab lunch at the Black Seal and check out the town.

If you need anything else let me know.
