"We've received 2 other e-mail letters. I have
forewarded all of them, including yours, to the 1st Selectman.

As you may know, the Board of Selectmen voted unanimously in favor of
the project. Now it goes to a town vote next week. We are optimistic,
but you never know how these things will turn out.

Keep on enjoying the quarry. You might catch my wife and I snorkling
there sometime.

Dean"

The quote above is from Dean Jacques as stated in a previous post he runs the Portland web site. It may not be too late for us out of towners to express our interest in the quarry. As you can see he is forwarding them on to the First Selectman. His email is deanjacques@snet.net if you would like to show your support.

I want to make a point that there was a question as I interpreted it as to developement of the quarry not really favoring it. That quarry was a mess and now it is Grade "A" water. To me thats a big improvement and a step in the right direction and should be spelled out to the towns folk who will be doing the voting.

Like I said it was just my interpretation.

I used to jump in that quarry from the tree swing in 1981. The first person would go in and make a big clearing of the oil slick. Then we would all go next. Today after the cleanup efforts, there is no oil to be seen on the surface I was completely surprised to see it that way. Progress has already been made in an environmental way and also stolen property has been identified and cases solved.
