the project. Now it goes to a town vote next week. We are optimistic,
but you never know how these things will turn out.

The quote above is from Dean Jacques as stated in a previous post he runs the Portland web site. It may not be too late for us out of towners to express our interest in the quarry. I want to make a point that there was a question as I interpreted it as to developement of the quarry not really favoring it. That quarry was a mess and now it is Grade "A" water. To me thats a big improvement and a step in the right direction and should be spelled out to the towns folk who will be doing the voting.
Like I said it was just my interpretation.
I used to jump in that quarry from the tree swing in 1981. The first person would go in and make a big clearing of the oil slick. Then we would all go next. Today after the cleanup efforts, there is no oil to be seen on the surface I was completely surprised to see it that way. Progress has already been made in an environmental way and also stolen property has been identified and cases solved.
