Mitten Diver:
Only question now is does Netmage fly into Detroit or Lansing for the "Caravan" trip.

Mitten Diver

I think Detroit and Toronto would be the realiastic options... Detroit would eat up more 'time to fly' time, but may pose some logistical challenges in timing. If someone can provide tanks and pick me up at the airport - this is very doable next year.... I'd only need weights if I was diving something other than a 3mm...

For next year - I think we should explore some other wrecks, as well as possibly a full day on Saturday. Doing all that travel for 4 dives is kinda lite. I don't know if I'd be up for it to do the same 4 wrecks. The Muskie was very small. The Gaskin, and the Daryaw were nice and presented some more opportunities to explore. The Lilly - I didn't care for too much. Because it's turtled - not a whole lot of opportunity to explore anything. The current made stopping very cumbersome. The drift was fun. Maybe with a scooter... :)

You folks who dove wet, were those 3mm...?

It sounds like you guys had a blast! I'd have gone with, but am going this weekend instead. Leaving here the 9th comning back on the 12th. I'm stoked!!

Is there anyone from SB who'll be in Brockville next weekend??

Randy

I had a 7.7mil. I've always used that everywhere and do just fine! What a weekend it was too.

Mel will have weights on board, or I can make sure he does. He can also supply tanks if needed(BC's, suits, you name it!). He has a lot of tank sizes to choose from. If you even wanted to fly into Rochester, I can pick you up too.

There was some talk of doing more wrecks on sat. Brian and I talked about doing the Keystorm, then the Vickery, and then the Gaskin as it's a nice wreck to wind down on. Then sunday do 2 more dives. We can see what everyone wants to do for next year!

This year was really the first time I enjoyed the Lillie. I'm not big on current, but with the big group, I felt better doing it and I"m getting the hang of current dives. But I don't like turtled wrecks either. Actually the Daryaw was a little boring because of it.

I found you! Awesome trip! I can't believe I didn't go sooner as I am only 120 mis away. The picture came out great-who was that girl who took it? ;0

You guys are great bunch and I really appreciate you putting up with a "newbie," especially my "buddies" who sacrificed some bottom time and some air (Diver_Paula  ) I really didn't think I was going to get invited back next year!

I'm glad you all made it home safely. I got home around 5pm Sunday. Funny-my wife and I had no trouble at the border either direction....??? You guys just look conspicuous haha

I dove in a 5-4-3, no hood and reef gloves. Oh yeah sorry about the fins on Sunday--thanks to JP for lending his...

The diving in Brockville was definitely the best I have done. I mean I've only dove Lake Champlain and The Outer Banks. My first dive was in Jamaica but there wasn't much to see at the site i went to...snorkeling on the reefs was more interesting sight wise.

The Outer Banks in August threw me as I had only done a shore dive and a couple in the pool in the 50ft pool in Montreal in 2005 prior to that. I thought the water would be warm but there was a thermocline to 50 something degrees and I didn't bring my hood and only had reef gloves. The vis was poor and there wasn't much to see on the wreck. I know there is better diving on the Outer Banks especially at a different time of year and when you're prepared. Sorry I'll stop whining

My friend's Dad was the reason I decided to get certified as he was looking for a buddy and has a boat. However he decided to go school online as well as working full time (night shift). Where are his priorities? That combined with doing alot of fishing with my Dad and brother I didn't do much diving. Turns out you have to keep diving to keep up your skills or something...or in my case to practice your skills you learned in class...

Well, I am going to keep going even if I have to tag along with Mel and his students as this past weekend reminded me how much I love to dive! I wish I could afford to go Brockville every weekend!

Glad to meet you guys and I'm glad I found the board.

Dave

hey! Good to see you Dave!!

There was no "putting up" about it, the saturday that we were out, we had two good dives, with no unsolveable issues (just need more practice ;) )

Cheers!
Adam

Dave! Welcome to SB!! You're always welcome to come along with us. I have a cottage on Cumberland Head, so I'll have to let you know when I'm in town!! We can beg Mel to take us out!! Water Witch here we come!! Oh and the Horse Ferry is my favorite. I'm also a newbie compaired to all the others we dove with. You did great and I was glad you were along!

Wow! I didn't know that you had a cottage! That is great! I haven't dove the horse ferry. Do you have any idea when you will be in Plattsburgh next? I know Mel has a class later this month on weekends at Paul Smith's in Saranac Lake.

PS-are there any other Plattsburgh Divers on the Lake Effects forum?

Sorry! I think I'm the only regular to P-Burg! I'm there are at least 2 weeks a year at the cottage. I don't know when I'll be up that way again. You should dive the Horse Ferry and the General Butler. Both are easy.

I looked around the forum to do some research my nosebleeds, fullness in my ears post dive etc etc...sometimes I get mild flu symptoms but this time it may have been that I caught a bug from a friend i was playing cards with..anyway, back to this board Man, I could lost in all the posts. I have discovered yet another way to "waste time". I think my Xbox is jealous of my pc now.

Anyway--i got caught up reading other stuff and forgot what i was looking for...but I've got a DAN membership and I've seen there sight and it all points to I'm probably blowing too hard and my deviated septum probably doesn't help. The ENT I saw gave me a script for steroid nasal spray that and Sudafed helps a little.

So i'm asking for a referal from DAN to another ENT as i've the one I saw is no good.

Do you guys think I'm clearing too forcefully? I've heard you can get surgery for a deviated septum that will resolve the equalizing difficulty. Seems extreme to get surgery I hope I don't have to do that to keep diving.
