Welcome to the board!
Sounds like there may have been some other issue affecting your dive. Was the vis crappy? Did you not feel well? Could be almost anything. Did it get better as you ascended? I hope you figured it out.

Not sure what it could have been. Bad air fill maybe? Anyway, welcome to the board! I'm sure someone will have an idea.

welcome to the boards, there could be something you must have overloked, maybe a bit fatigued? whatever the case when you catch yourself at a loss for breath, just calm down and relax.

vis was ok for the quarry but I did have a new diver with me and he was taking a long time getting it together and staying with me yes I did go up but remembered to do a safty stop he started to go past me and I stoped freaking out just to stop him so he would not get bent ,it just felt like I had a short of breath and could not get the air but I use apex 200 reg and I have them serviced on a reg base and they always breath great now I am a little scared to try again for this has never happened before ,,,,,,,thanks for the reply

I think Joe hit this pretty well. I guess you already checked the adjustment on your second stage, but this possibly something you missed?

You may also want to have your reg tested at your dive shop, just to be sure.

After that, try again, descending down a line slowly, and expect it to go well.
