I dive, fish and hunt here in the PAC NW and on my downriggers I use nothing but Scotty premium braid and it works perfectly with no twists or knots ever being an issue...

#24 cave line is difficult enough to handle underwater. Do not choose a line with an even smaller diameter. ➿

I use extremely strong dynema line on my reel when towing a float, it is also about 600 lb test. It sometimes gets abused when contacting a wreck, so the added abrasion resistance and strength is welcome. for use on an smb? probably not really necessary, but it should work, just spensive....
While Dynema has very good tensile strength it is crap for abrasion resistance, this is well known in the climbing community, and marine salvage/towing industry, both where dynema use is prevalent.

Cave reels are staying with a proper cave line. Looking for something for shooting a backup dsmb from depth

Well, it is tougher than some other nylon cords etc. It is used a lot in spearfishing where a fish might drag the line over rocks and wreck etc. Not as good as steel cable, but better than monofilament.

Has anyone used some of the modern high test braided fishing lines on a dsmb? They are a lot thinner and stronger than typical cave line.

Is there a reason you need "stronger" line for your DSMB? Normally, you shoot your DSMB to the surface while you are floating with it, so strength of line should never be an issue.

My own personal experience with cave line in the ocean, I've never had an issue, and I pull a torpedo float, with a scooter using standard cave line. And we have done that into currents, rough seas and from 200' deep up to beach dives.

So it would seem you may be trying to solve a problem that does not exist. IMHO.
