bp wing weight distribution questions

Just curious how people requiring lots of weight distribute it when using a bp wing system. All my diving with a bp wing has been with the use of hp 100 steels and a drysuit meaning hardly any weight is needed. I've also used the bp wing for wet suit diving using single steels and aluminums which also doesn't require much weight. My question is in regards to diving singles with a drysuit in areas such as British Columbia where thick undergarments are needed and lots of weight would be needed, especially if you were forced to dive with an aluminum tank (heaven forbid). I like keeping my weight in as few places as possible, not spread out on the tank, on a belt, on the waste strap, and maybe a few other places here and there. Basically, how do you put thirty plus pounds of weight comfortably to use on a bp wing system without it getting cluttered? Has anyone added a weight integration system with good luck? Anyways, thanks for the answers! Look forward to hearing what people have to say!

If you need a lot of ballast there are a few strategies.

Steel tanks, ~6 lbs more negative than al 80's

SS back plates, ~4 lbs more negative than al / kydex plates.

Bolt on ballast, DSS weight plates add 8.1 lbs per pair to the back plate.

With a SS plate and harness, regulator, bolt on weights and typical steel tank the divers rig can provide ~22 lbs of ballast with an empty cylinder.

I'm not a fan of having 100% of the diver's ballast on the rig. This can require a larger wing than would be required if the diver has 4-6-8 lbs on a weight belt.

Without having it too spread out, one of the nicest ways to go is with a Halcyon (6lbs) STA.

This STA provides an additional 6lbs right in the middle (very balanced). If diving in tropical waters where you don't need the Wght, just pop it out and leave it home.

The other addition to this is the Trim Wght pockets that mount to cam straps.

I've seen divers that between the 2 options, don't need any other Wght and now have a clean harness with no clutter.

Yeah. A weight belt is a nice option for carrying a 4-8 lbs. Some drysuit divers in our area, who like to carry a little more weight on their person, use weight harnesses (like the DUI Weight & Trim) successfully. The dump handles protrude from beneath the harness waist strap.

Several companies (Halcyon, Golem Gear, etc.) make releasable weight pockets which mount onto the backplate and slide onto the harness waist strap. There are some disadvantages of using such a system, though.
 
Look up V weights, P weights and butt weights.
