I've seen the pro-fit harness, and I agree, that while it is soft, I don't like the quick releases, etc. Might as well start getting used to a Hogarthian harness if I decide to progress further in diving.

Incidentally, how soft is the hogarthian webbing compared to, say, the new soft(er) webbing that Halcyon has on their rigs now (it's noticeably softer than standard weight-belt webbing).

Hi Ikari,

"Weight Belt Webbing" is resin reinforced webbing. In my experience there are two basic grades of Resin Reinforced, one is extremely stiff and the second is somewhat less stiff. The difference is not the webbing or the weave, but is the resin.

We furnish the second with our one piece harnesses. How that compares with the current H webbing is a little difficult to say as the exact "feel" of the webbing varies from Mill to Mill.

In my opinion our "softer" Resin Reinforced is comparable.

If you like PM me your address and I'll send you a 6" piece.

Regards,

Tobin

Well, thanks to all for the input. I have decided to purchase DSS's Single Tank Rig with their Hogarthian harness. That way I don't have any worries about wings and plates not fitting correctly. From NWGratefulDiver's review, I don't think I'll be disappointed with my choice.

Hi IKari.. i was wondering how the DSS setup is working out.... Im thinking of getting the same set up..I spoke to hardware over the phone and was impressed with what he had to say..... Problem for me is the fact that my DIR crowd wont like the idea of a NON donut shaped Wink like DSS has. I think the price / performance ratio offered by DSS is the best i have ever seen... SOOOO its been 2 months since your post...

DO tell US all What is the DSS setup really like????????????

To tell the sad truth, I haven't been able to pick up the DSS rig yet. I had some flooding damage to repair, and also a new computer to obtain when my old one departed this world. Hopefully I'll have the DSS setup by summer, though.

Gomen nasai.....

After seeing this thread originally, and considering the options, I bought a complete DSS setup with the Hogarthian harness. Tobin is a great guy and spent some time (with no pressure) answering all my BP/W questions and showing me some of his ideas about gear design and such. It helps that his operation is local to where I live, so I just drove over and picked it up.

So far I've only had it in the pool :confined: due to a nasty convergence of weather and the flu o' death :pity_part , but I really like it. I have been using a SeaQuest Balance because I thought that was streamlined, but this Hogarthian harness thing is sweet. I have two back-to-back overnight boat trips planned for this weekend, so I'll finally get it into saltwater. :scubadive

ditto that, and then raise it some...

I replaced the rubber plugs with bolt, washer and wingnut and havent experienced any movement whatsoever of the tank.

I have even been working on setting up the DSS rig for sidemount and pretty much got it right.
