Thank you all so much for the responses.

sounds like the best idea is to go for the singles set up and worry about doubles when i get there. and im still a long way off from that. :D

I'll test out the singles rig and if i like it, well, i'll just put it on my credit card and pretend i never bought it. :D

Welcome to the cult... err.. club. :D

I also recommend getting a wing dedicated to single tank diving. The extra cost of a doubles wing is small considering how much you'll be spending for on tanks, regs, gas and, most importantly, training.

What wing are you looking at getting?

If your budget doesn't allow for multiple wings I think you can find something that will cover both single and twin cylinder configurations.

SeanQ...I am looking into an Oxycheq BP/W, with a HOG(??) harness system. It's just a bunch of straps that look rather confusing. :D

Go for a long hose & bungied backup while you are at it. And toss the console. Just clip off your SPG & move compass & computer to your wrist.

All the cool kids are doing it :)

That's exactly what I have. I got the 45# Signature Series with 6lb steel plate, STA, SS cambands, and hogarthian harness. It looks uncomfortable but once you put it you can hardly tell it is there. I love it.

I'm guessing your shopping at Ocean Quest?

Yup , but only cause it makes sense . Long hose questionable but the rest , ya it just seems better and smarter.

terrasmak: Why do you say the long hose is questionable. I think once you go bp/w it makes more sense to have it than not.

Just my $0.02.

Bjorn

P.S.: After recently practicing some OOA drills with some regular buddies, 2 of them switched to the long hose. Both already had BP/W's. :)

COW, it really helps if you have somebody who is familiar with the gear to help you set it up or check it -- either that, or invest in Mackay's book, Dress for Success, which goes through the setup and adjustment in detail with lots of pictures. And don't try the harness on over your drysuit the first time by yourself . . .LINK
