For those of you who use the BP/W setup, which side of the crotch strap is your buckle on? All of the DIR sites have it near the right hip, but it seems to me that the buckle can catch on the crotch strap loop rather easily, thus preventing a quick release.

It can catch, yes. It does take an extra second to slp it through. But on the right is correct.

If you mean, having the already opened buckle slip easily through the loop on the crotch strap, it isn't a problem. At least it has never been for me. If the loop is the right size / big enough the open buckle is streamlined enough to slip through easily. Having it on the right seems to help avoid the buckle accidentally opening by getting caught on the crotch strap loop.

it takes one extra move (pushing buckle close again) before slipping it out through the crotch strap

in about five dives, this is second nature

Have found i dont need the c-strap. But then too, I have a enough out crop of a tummy the belt stays put when I cinch it tight.

I asked the same question and I received the same replys. It should be on the right side but, I changed my setup a little. I only have my right arm so I moved what would be my left hip d-ring to the right side. It's just a little futher back and my buckle is several inches forward the d-ring.

Look at this. the buckle is on the right. Maybe a search on google images too.

Right side. I wear a d-ring on the right hip so my buckle rests closer to center than the DSS pic. My weight belt buckle is a little left of center.
