BP/W - no pockets

I have been using one of these for my smb.

It bolts to the back of the plate and works great. Everything else is clipped somewhere. or bungied to the plate. but mostly clipped.

Agree with the shorts if you don't want to have pockets permanently attached. The ones from Irikonji Dive Gear LLC are more expensive, but nicely made.

Been using one of those (or a copy) for my SMB/Spool. I like it, but have to be careful how I load it as it can be a challenge to extract items.

A whistle can clip onto the inflater hose and I clip my DSMB to the butt D-ring. I clip a torch to the chest D-ring and strap it to the webbing with a snoopy loop (elastic loop) when it is not in use. For most recreational dives I do not need more than that.

This is pretty much my configuration, though I add a pair of EMT shears in a sheath on the waist belt portion of the harness and a small slate with a bolt snap on my right hip d-ring that I tuck into my wait belt when not in use (I don't even notice it there.

you can mount a storage compartment to the backplate where you can put the safety sausage.

I have my SMB clipped on the right side of my BP with a double-ender, held in place with a loop of surgical tubing. Reel clipped on the left side. One cutting tool strapped on my left shoulder and a small knife on my harness belt. Light clips to right shoulder D-ring, held in place with surgical tubing. I do have a pocket that I added to my harness belt for a pocket snorkel, can't even tell it is there in the water.

I was concerned about lack of pockets also. Not a problem with the D/S, but I have too many wetsuits to add pockets to. I ended up with the dive right pocket on the harness. It works, but after about 6 months I ended up clipping off all my gear except the spare mask. Once I decided (and tested) a mask-less ascent in open water, I lost the spare mask and the pocket. KISS.

I use the pocket shorts and I have the Halcyon storage system on my plate. If you need more then that your taking too much with you on your dive. KISS!

I have thigh pockets on my wetsuits, but I also have Zeagle tech pockets on the waist webbing of my (also Zeagle) BP/W....and I use them more than my thigh pockets. $$ though...
