I'm a Fish!
When using a backpack system, would a pony bottle mounted to either side of your tank throw off your distributed weight? So much so to be a problem?
Thanks

I have never had a problem with "shifting" issues from the off-set weight due to mounting a pony bottle on 1 side or the other of my main cylinder. Make sure that your shoulder straps are fit correctly to start with and you should be o.k. You might want to try to sling the bottle on your left side, it "disappears" underwater and is easier to get at, or hand off in an emergency. I'll use either configuration depending on the dive. Good luck.

I use an al40 as a stage bottle strapped to a single, I put it on my right side, you don't even notice it is there once you have your rig on.

I use a Halcyon 30 lb wing with a SS BP, I usually dive oms lp121's or HP 120's, I prefer the LP's because I don't need a weight belt.

When I use it with doubles it goes right between the 2 tanks and you don't even notice it is there once you have your rig on.

I try to be sensitive to weight distribution since proper weigthing affects the way one dives. As far as the pony goes, my 30cf tank is -2.7 lbs in the water and neutral when empty. That said, I feel the ponys weight (and thus, lean to that side) and compensate the weight on the opposite side. I used to use it on my tank then add 3 lbs on the tank strap to balance it out and it worked fine. Now I sling the tank on my side and take 3 lbs off the left side of my weight harness. If i did not compensate I don't seem to be as horizontal as I would like to be.
