So tonight, looking at the FifthD website, I noticed that the pics of the Eclipse have the harness waist strap coming out of the *outside* slots on the BP. When I got mine, it was pre-threaded for the waist coming out of the *inside* slots and I just kept it that way whenever I re-threaded it. Now that I look around at other pics, I see it both ways.

I'm going to try it the other way, but I was wondering what most people did, or if most people are dumb like me and didn't even realize people did it both ways.

The waist strap should be coming out of the outside slot. (Closest to the edge of the plate) It sounds like yours was threaded wrong from the factory.

The waist strap feeds through the outside strap because the shoulder straps need to be on the inside slot for the best fit. The harness will fit more securely if the should straps feed through the inside slot first.

Mine is threaded like Jonnythan's, but for a reason.
I criss-cross the waste strap behind my back to put the belt lower on my torso. The lower belt location also keeps the BP/W from ridding up without the need for a crotch strap. This is a great setup for those of us who are tall.

The pictures I found on the net weren't too clear on that point, so I threaded the waist strap from the outside holes. I didn't consider the adjustment of the shoulder straps, however. It just seemed to me that would make the bottom of the plate just a little more secure, as the waist strap would have a tiny bit more leverage on any force that tried to lift up the edge of the plate.

I've only got 3 dives on my BP/W, so I'm far from knowledgable. This is just what I did & why I did it.

BTW, jonnythan, you probably don't remember, but quite a while ago I was asking for advice on BC's. You recomended OxyCheq, now I've got a fredT plate, OxyCheq 45's, & Koplin STA. Absolutely amazing! Maybe one day I'll get a chance to dive some Halcyon or DiveRite gear, but it would be hard to imagine that it could get any better than this. Your advice is much appreciated.
