I know that that the Gue guys won;t have a problem with a Oxycheq wing. I just wanted to see if any Halcyon defenders would flare up hahah.
Yeah I dive up here so i will most likely will go with the 45lb wing and a 6lb ss plate.

Since it is mentioned in the GUE's guidelines (link in one of Soggy's posts above), it couldn't hurt to give em a holler and ask for advice on amount of life. 35ish#might be enough.

I know 35 would prob be ideal, but I like the construction of the Oxycheq wings and they only offer 30lb and 45 lb :( . That is the one thing that I like abou the halcyon wings is that they offer a 36lb lift..but halcyon's are much more expensive then the oxycheqs.....Rock and a hard place....

I have Oxycheq 45# which I used diving large LP steel tanks (single). the only non-DIR thing about the tank was that the inflator hose (and a curagated hose) was too long, so I changed them to Halcyon shorter hoses. not a big deal.

The 45 and the 30 are the same size, externally. The 45 just has the bellows along the tank, so the profile of a 45 in the water is going to be about the same as a 30. I'd probably opt for the 45 myself. Also, do get the Signature Series wing. It's got a removable bladder, and just seems sturdier and even better built than the regular one. I believe they're already out, even though it says "Coming Soon" on the website. I played with one and almost went diving with it in Australia last month, before the charter booking fell through. Looked pretty good, except for the mile-long hose.

yeah, the long hose is the only problem with these wings. If you can ask them to change it to a shorter one before you buy it, that woudl be great. If you dive in North East with large steel tanks, get the 45# wing. I fyou only use Alum80, 30# wing should be just fine.

Are you talking about diving with neoprene exposure, or something non-compressible? With a compressible suit, I would definately lean towards the 45#. With a non compressible suit, the 30# should be more than adequate.

A steel 130 holds about 10# of gas, an AL 40 if you choose to dive a redundant bailout with singles will hold about 3# of gas. That's 13# of lift needed... [well, 16# since you need 3# extra lbs of lift on the side with the AL40]

If you are diving wet, or with a neoprene drysuit, then you have to take into account the compressability of the suit... in which case 45# might be a little more reasonable.

Too much space in your wing makes for annoying trim issues should your gas shift in the wing. I dove a 55# wing with singles for a bit, and it lasted maybe two dives post cavern class [after removing the gosset bungee]. The shifting of the gas was just a pain to keep in control.

Ask, and ye shall receive, my son...

12, 14, or 16 " corrugated hose available on the wings, the last time I checked...

I would go with the 45# wing...

I used to know someone that sold those!!!

I'll watch this thread for notice to register and commitment deadlines.
Thanks!
