Hi All,

I'm trying to get a head count of people that would be interested in taking a GUE DIR Fundamentals class in the Boston, MA area on June 4-6th, 2004. I've contacted Michael Kane (MHK) and he is very interested in coming out to teach. Ideally, I'd like to get 10 students per MHKs recommendation. This would get us 2 instructors for the class.

Please let me know if you can commit to these dates.

The class would start Friday the 4th around 7pm and end around 4pm on the 6th.

So it is not a sure thing you just want a head count..

Well I can not definitly commit right now, but I can say Im definitly interested and could probely commit closer to spring time. What would be the cost and requirments of the class ?

The class is highly likely. We already have an available instructor, 4 committed, and 9 maybes after only a few hours of being posted on TheDecoStop.

The cost is $325. The requirements are posted on the GUE website here. The long and short of it is you must be a non-smoker and have the following gear configuration:
  • non-split fins
  • 5' - 7' long hose
  • a single piece harness with backplate and wing
  • liftbag/surface marker
  • 100' spool
I'll put you on the maybe list, but I expect the class to be filled within the next few days.

keep me posted. I might already be DIR-F by that time, but I may just drive up and take the class again. We are also talking to MHK do the class in NYC area in April-March timeframe. We were supposed have it last weekend but that got canceled due to heavy snow. Oh well, will wait until the next year then.

Ok. I'll put Danny D on as a definite and VTernovski as a maybe.

Danny...if you could PM me your real name and email address, that would be great.

We currently have 5 definites which is enough to reserve the class.

Yay!!!

Well I have the usual vest bc and reg set-up. Recently I have been diving with a backplate and wing that a friend has lent me . Now I will buy the equipment that I actually have been wanting.

1. Backplate.......stainless steel 6lb

2. Wing.....30 or 45 lb Oxycheq wing ( don't think the Dir people will appreciate that lol)

3. Apeks tx50 first and secons stages

I'm pretty sure that I have a reel hanging around so thats what Im lookin at ...Just not sure what wing size I will finally go with
Im 6' 210lbs athletic so im not on the lite size.
