Heading for Bonne Terre Fri (12-10). First time diving @ the mine. We plan on 2 dives Sat & 1 on Sun. Staying @ the Super 8.

Anyone have any tips, advice, warnings or whatever concerning this trip? I'm aware of the $ & we'll be diving dry suits.

Any "Best route" from Omaha, NE other than 29 to KC, 70 to
St Louis & then South?

Anybody want to join us? I think there will only be 4 in our group.

Tks,
Terry

You have the best route; do take I-270 between I-70 & I-55 rather than going through the city.

Bring some warm clothes for the surface interval, and snacks unless you want to drive somewhere for lunch between dives.

You may want to consider paying the extra $ for an Al 100 upgrade from the standard Al 80 included in the price unless you have excellent air consumption rate.

Enjoy! It is a beautiful dive.

Terry,
Enjoy your trip... I'll make it up there one of these days if only to see if it's worth the $ for the hype. Let us all kow how the trip goes

Rent weights! It's worth the $$ not to have to lug your own down & back.

Do they have lockers down there or a place to store your gear overnight or do you have to tote it back up & down each day?

I don't remember if you can leave your gear overnight, hopefully someone else will. However, I totally second the rent weights suggestion! Also, if you have a backpack to carry your gear down and back up again that can be a big help. Wheels on your gear bag don't help a whole lot given there are more steps than ramps.

I have left gear below for the weekend on all three trips.

Terry,

I haven't been there myself but looking forward to going sometime in the not to distant future, so what are they charging to dive there now?

Earlier this year it was $65 per dive with either a 2-dive minimum or a 3-dive minimum, depending on how booked up they were for that weekend. That includes the tanks (Al-80, already down in the mine).

Mike, $65 per tank, 2 tank min. We plan on 2 tanks Sat & 1 Sun am.

Super 8 is $48 diver rate for a double ($70 reg on-line) almost half of what they want for a room with the mine pkg.

Dust off your gear & meet us down there.
