A question I have is, what is the advantage (assuming it worked) of something like the Bonica over say, a Canon S80 in video mode?

The S80 has a 1024 x 768 mode that appears to be quite good and with a 2 gig SD card (or a 4 gig) plenty of time (30 + minutes at that res?). I do know you can't zoom during video shooting -- you have to stop, zoom, then start -- oh and the clips are captured as AVI files.

the major advantage of the bonica is it can zoom while in the movie taking. it is quite handy. most of the other digital camera cannot do this. (as far as i know, correct me if i am wrong please) besides it comes with the silicone case and give an extra protection to the camera. in case the hard case flooded, it won't damage the camera (of course it has to be discoverd at the surface before the dive). other than that, is the price point.

The zoom function is the big advantage. I don't have an S80. I do have a Canon that does video, but only in 3 minute clips. I'm not sure if the S80 does that or not. I've done some video with my Canon and was just looking for something a little more versatile. For now, I'll just deal with the 3 minute clips and no zoom until I find something better.
