I can't find any mention of it only shooting 640x480. All it says is that it has a 5.0 megapixel resolution.
I read it somewhere. Probably camcorderinfo.com.

Did you get the clip I sent?

Yes. I think that the size and quality are pretty good for what I want to do. Which is basically shoot video for fun. Thanks.

dukeh20: May I ask where you bought and what the price was? Since posting this afternoon I found another site that sells it for around $50 less. I'm wondering if the hard case is standard or if it was included by the place where you purchased yours. B&H only says it comes with a carrying bag. Who knows what that means :-)

Thanks and have fun on your trip.

I got it for around $550 including the hard case. (Could not find the receipt). Leisure Pro sells it with and without the hard case. Also, I picked up a bunch of 1 gig SD cards for about $12 each at Staples. The battery that came with it is a "generic" NP-60 battery. I think it's a Nikon knock off, I plan to get a couple off of ebay before coz.

Thanks. I'm going to get it from B&H, their price is lower and shipping won't cost me a fortune (Leisure Pro charges a lot to ship to Alaska-I don't buy from them). B&H also sells the 2 Gb cards for about $20 cheaper than most places. I'm looking for the 4GB card. This camera takes that higher capacity ones as well.

Be careful buying SD cards on EBAY. They have a big problem with SD card forgeries.

No, I am holding off in the hopes that I will be able to afford a nicer setup next year. I spoke with the head guy over a Bonica and he told me that it does accept the 4 GB card. They had not updated their website to reflect the new cards.

I decided to check out the camera. I ordered it and the housing. Plugged in the camera to charge the battery. Left it charging overnight as recommended. Played around with it for about 1/2 an hour and put it down. A couple days later I picked it up to play around with it some more but the battery was drained. I recharged it overnight. The next day I unplugged it, but didn't get to play with it for another day or 2. By the time I got to it, the battery was about 1/3 charged. I hadn't turned it on since its last charge. I called B&H and arranged to exchange the camera. New camera was delivered and to make a long story short, the same thing happened. The 2nd camera is now making its way back to NY with the housing for a full refund. My suggestion is to not buy this camera because the battery won't hold a charge long enough to even get you in the water.

Thanks for the follow up Rob. I think maybe I will just bite the bullet and invest in a more expensive camera. I've been looking at getting the Sony HC5 with the Ikelite housing (which Ikelite tells me will be availiable at the end of this month). It will set me back a couple thousand but it is a sure bet. It's too bad that this cheapo camera turned out to be such a ---cheapo camera :D. Sorry you were the guinea pig too. But I appreciate the evaluation.

No problem. I'm going to do the same. I just don't know what I want. I'd like something compact enough to take on penetrations dives. That was the big attraction to the Bonica - I could hold it and control it with one hand. Oh well. No big deal. I didn't end up losing anything. B&H paid for return shipping both times.
