Thanks for reading this. I am thinking of purchasing the Bonica 1080 HD with two lights. Looking for opinions. I have only done a large camcorder (no HD) in a Top Dawg till now.

I uploaded a huge collection of videos to my youtube channel. Taken with 1080. Some were with 720 60fps option.

Bonica is a good system for the money that it costs, its size, its versatility. But as with any camera system there are "issues".

It is really really hard to use bonica during a drift dive. I kid you not. Out of all my dives... most of the good videos come out when I am not being pushed with unseen force of a current. I think a big part of it is that I lost my side arm and shooting with 1 hand while being thrown around with a current is that much harder. Lately I have been getting a kick out of my 60fps option and I can salvage a lot more material out of my dives which makes me a happy camper.

Good Morning and thank you for your response. I looked at some of the videos and you are right, they look very similar to a Sony (not HD) I have used. I had the opportunity to purchase one of the Bonica systems, including two Sea&Sea video lights for a very attractive price so I did go ahead and jump on it. The only thing, I do not have the red filter and the second remote does not work, so I think I will purchase one of each. It did come with the wide angle lens as well, so quite the kit. Under normal understanding I would not use the red filter with the lights, what are your thoughts.

Thanks again

Well I can tell you for a fact that I have never used lights and that I have no use for lights because I always dive in daylight but I do wish.. .sometimes... that I had lights so I could video tape something under the ledge. That being said... I can never quite inconvenience myself enough to spend 1500+ dollars on a light system just because sometimes I might want to video tape something.

But from personal experience it is a pain in the rear to apply red lense filter because it gets stuck. To solve that problem I always leave it on. I actually modified it so that it lets air out and lets water in as I descend.

I would have to say that you might want to do some custom modding if you plan to take the filter and the lights with you. Come to think of it.. I think they also sell wide angle lense with red filter in it.
