Be careful....in Bonaire ALOT of places DO NOT accept AMEX....our car rental provider did NOT accept AMEX...

and GET the insurance....Hell it's only $73 for the week....money invested well..

I second what Blackrock said about using the AmEx rental insurance. I was on Bonaire for two weeks last month and it worked out great. The coverage is more than enough to buy a truck outright and they pay the rental company immediately (i.e. while you are still standing there) in case of claim. You can sign up for the AmEx plan for one trip and then cancel it when you get back, no problem.

I rented a truck in Bonaire on two separate trips with Bonaire Car Rental AB. Both times I declined their insurance and used my Amex coverage. I never had a problem but I also never had a claim. I did quite a lot of research before doing so and it seemed like the way to go. Just make sure you upgrade your insurance coverage by calling Amex otherwise trucks won't be covered.

I had gas siphoned from two trucks while I was there last week. This included damage to the wheel well lining and cutting the rubber hose. Does the Amex cover that sort of thing?
