DeltaWardog - to be honest I just don't remember much from that dive, other than we were too chicken to do the giant stride entry and went the ladder route instead (well, I would have done it if my wife had been willing). If it was really great I probably would have remembered more about it - maybe it's just my dementia kicking in... But I'd definitely go back again, to give it another try.
In contrast, Karparta is a pretty spectacular dive. On the descent with the DM, there is a fairly rapid dropoff that made me feel like I was flying off a cliff. Beginners may want to consider doing Karpata as a boat dive, as the entry can be quite challenging, especially if the surf's bad (you have time your jump to avoid getting smashed into the rocks). From the boat (the waves were pretty bad that day), we could see how that could happen. Apparently it's not so bad sometimes. The thing to keep in mind is that each dive site can be different each time you go, since the conditions can fluctuate quite a bit day-to-day (even sometimes within the same day), so if one site doesn't look particularly enticing at first, go somewhere else first and check out the first place again later.
DiveMaven - glad you enjoyed the report. That is too bad that we'll miss each other - maybe next time! (we'll be going again, that's for sure) But I guarantee that you'll meet lots of others when you're there, whether at the bar or dock. Yes, I will be sure to post the next trip report sooner than last time.
