The Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association (BONHATA) is proud to announce the official launch of its latest marketing campaign, I Love Bonaire, with the release of the campaign’s official video. Aptly entitled “I Love Bonaire”, the short video features a variety of activities and beautiful locations around the island, and showcases everything there is to love about this sunny Dutch Caribbean island. The new video is available on BONHATA’s YouTube channel, on BONHATA’S “I Love Bonaire” Facebook page, and can be accessed directly here: http://youtu.be/jmCfYv8WEP4
Long famous as the shore diving capital of the world, Bonaire remains a true diver’s paradise. With a pristine fringing reef located mere feet from the shoreline and more than 60 marked shore diving sites, the calm, clear water makes shore diving easy and accessible to divers of all skill levels. For divers who prefer to see the reef by boat, more than 20 additional marked dive sites offer limitless underwater exploration at places not accessible from shore. With more than 80 marked dive sites around the island, it is no wonder thousands of divers return to Bonaire year after year.
But Bonaire is about much more than just diving.
Snorkelers take advantage of the fringing reef and calm seas to explore Bonaire’s underwater treasures, too. Snorkeling Bonaire is as easy as walking into the sea at virtually any spot along the island’s west coast. A variety of underwater features, including flat, sandy expanses, lush soft coral gardens and healthy hard coral formations, all populated with a variety of tropical aquatic life, can be found within feet of the shoreline, making snorkeling a popular and easy activity for visitors of every age.
Wind sport enthusiasts flock to Bonaire to enjoy the nearly year-round trade winds and warm, sunny climate that combines to offer near perfect conditions. Windsurfers enjoy practicing their skills in picture-perfect Lac Bay on the east side of the island, where warm, shallow water and soft, white sand meet to offer an excellent environment for beginners and experts alike. Kiteboarders head over to Atlantis Beach on the island’s west coast, where consistent offshore wind and flat water create the perfect backdrop for relaxed cruising or showing off big jumps and impressive tricks.
When it’s time to dry off, Bonaire’s quaint downtown area of Kralendijk offers a variety of restaurants and shops to satisfy even the most discriminating visitor. Taste buds are tantalized with a selection of cuisines from around the world, and shoppers are delighted to find local artwork, cultural treasures, unique clothing and accessories, and luxury items in the shops lined up along the cobblestone streets. The nicest part is that everything can be enjoyed just a stone’s throw from the tranquil Caribbean Sea.
Things only heat up once the sun goes down. Evening brings an abundance of opportunities for Bonaire’s visitors, too. Whether it is sunset cocktails at seaside locations, fine dining at one of the many award-winning restaurants, savoring a fine cigar while listening to live music or dancing the night away at one of the popular clubs, there is something for everyone after dark.
When it is finally time to call it a day, Bonaire offers an excellent selection of resorts, hotels and small inns for every taste and budget. From large, full-service resorts to small, intimate guesthouses, visitors can find the perfect accommodations to call home while on the island.
Bonaire is a small island located just 12 degrees north of the equator in the southern Caribbean Sea. Well outside the hurricane belt and with consistent trade winds that keep the island comfortable, Bonaire makes an excellent year-round destination for tourists from around the world. Perhaps this is why Bonaire enjoys a 40% return rate for visitors each year.
The Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association is the official hotel and tourism association on Bonaire. Founded in 1980, BONHATA has long been at the forefront of Bonaire’s tourism industry and has more than 75 members representing resorts, hotels, apartments, diving operations, water sports businesses, car rental agencies, restaurants and other tourism-related companies on- and off-island. BONHATA’s mission is to promote, support and empower their members through cooperation and one unified voice.
