I'm a Fish!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news.....

but...

Effective tomorrow 23 May 2008, Gasoline Prices here on Bonaire will be going up quite a bit!

Effective tomorrow: Regular Unleaded: 2,75 guilders per litre, Super Unleaded: 2,78 guilder per litre, Diesel: 1,75 guilders per liter

Translated the costs in gallon, in dollars: $5.86/gallon, $5.92/gallon and $3.73/gallon respectively.

Just thought I could prepare some of you all that have plans to come to Bonaire in the near future, not to have sticker shock.

Only in the last year, since the prices have risen in the states, have our prices been so close to the US pricing. Previously, our prices were more on the level of European pricing. Looks like we are "getting back on track".

The cost of super unleaded last week was equivalent to $4.62/gallon. This is the closest we have been to US prices for as long as I can remember.

Well, let me run.....I've got to go fill up my gas tank!!!!

Sent it to me,you can have our prices.:D

Over $10/gallon.

Gallon of gas, $5.86/gallon..... Access to Bonaire shore diving, priceless. :)

Needless to say it's the locals that feel the pain, just as we do when making ordinary travel here at home.

CNN said it would be up to $7/gallon next summer in the US.

someone just told me they are talking $12/gallon gas prices in the US.

and of course the gas company executives testified the other day that they weren't behind all the profits.....

Like spectrum says, the shore diving offsets the cost of the gas. It's only $1.86 more than I am paying now and with the $ I save by not paying $70 or more for a 2 tank boat dive, it is well worth it.

Leave those poor multi-millionares alone! They are doing everything they can to help lower the costs. Didn't you see what they did recently? Several of the oil companies have more money than they know what to do with so they gave a very large portion of it back to their shareholders. What big hearts!:rofl3:

Diesel prices in NJ today: $4.60 / gallon. And no shore diving. Quit whining! :no

tri.....

I'm not whining, just informing....The reason that diesel is so much less here on Bonaire is because the licencing fees for vehicles yearly for a diesel vehicle is double the price of a gasoline vehicle. The licencing fee is 1.500,00 guilders per year or $845.00 per year.

Hey I'm still coming to Bonaire, even if I have to use a wheel barrow to get to the dive sites! (Maybe soon we'll see bicycle/wheel barrow "rickshaws" included in the dive package!) hmm... maybe I ought to start cornering the market on old bikes and garden carts around here...or ratty old scooters and dirt bikes that get 50+mpg, and convert them!
