There are a few other recent news articles about diving incidents in the area, but without names and dates, it's difficult to say if they are connected.

Police have named the diver whose body was found in Orkney last month.

Paul Smith had been reported missing near the wreck of the German battleship SMS Markgraf on September 28.

Coastguard, lifeboat and Royal Navy crews recovered the man’s body on October 16. On Wednesday, October 25, he was named.

Police Scotland said the family of Mr Smith, who is from the Greater Manchester area, has been informed.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The identity of the diver whose body was recovered near the island of Cava, in the Scapa Flow area on Monday, October 16 can now be confirmed as Paul Smith, aged 70.

“His relatives are aware.”

This was a different one than reported on the previous thread. Unfortunately we seem to have had a few recently.

It seems that he was struck by a passing liveaboard boat while hanging on a deco stop...

What's missing is was he hanging on a dsmb or just free floating on his stop... sad

Apparently hit by boat and DSMB was deployed

I know very little about boating and have a lot to learn about diving. That being said, on a deco stop, he’d be down at least 3m? How far under the water does the hull. of a boat that size tend to sit? Just trying to understand the scenario.
